Audley Sunningdale Park, Ascot

Overview

The Audley Group has recently completed the latest instalment in its collection of luxury retirement villages, set in the highly sought after area of Sunningdale near Ascot. The group worked in partnership with Gaunt Francis Architects to design 105 premium apartments and houses with outstanding facilities, including a bar and bistro, restaurant and wellness suite.

Vobster Architectural was selected as the primary supplier of wet cast stone for the project. Premium reconstituted and natural Bathstone were used to create elegant window surrounds, cills, door thresholds and copings in keeping with the timeless nature of the site’s original vernacular. A red-facing brick was supplied by Taylor Maxwell to further reflect the materials already in situ and sit in pleasing contrast with the wet cast stone.

Concept to Completion

The landscape and heritage-led design preserved the architectural style of the existing buildings, while creating an environment that is suitable for modern living. Original detailing and features were retained and restored on many of the Victorian and Edwardian structures, and a Grade II listed neo-Georgian mansion was extended and refurbished to become the hub of the village. Unsympathetic contemporary buildings and features were removed and rebuilt using high quality traditional materials, including a red brick facade and the classic Bathstone from Vobster Architectural. Thoughtfully installed modern elements bring the design up to date, including a zinc roof and full height glazing that gives way to picturesque woodland views.

Sunningdale Park is the 14th luxury retirement village to be completed by the award-winning Audley Group, whose reputation for excellence is once again apparent in the sensitive design of this latest project.

The blend of traditional and contemporary aesthetics makes for a clean, majestic and liveable finish, in which Bathstone sits beautifully. Its elegance, durability and enduring quality complements the ageless nature of the design, which will last for posterity.
