Portico and Balustrade
Cast Stone
What are cast stone porticos?
Sometimes also called a porch, a cast stone portico is a decorative cast stone surround used to create a grand entrance, particularly for residential developments. A portico can instantly add sophistication and grandeur to a project. The portico has origins which can be traced back to Ancient Greece and later resurging in popularity during the Georgian period, ultimately making it a popular choice for Georgian, Neo-Georgian and Georgian revival style projects or projects where the site resides in an area with Georgian heritage.
What are cast stone balustrades?
Of similar grandiose, a cast stone balustrade can be used to create a striking stairway, balcony or border for a courtyard or patio area, adding style and architectural flair to interior and exterior designs. Typically made up of a series of balusters or pillars topped by a rail, balustrades are also commonly found in classical forms of architecture. Primarily used to provide a decorative architectural feature, balustrades also provide the practical function of a handrail. Suited to a variety of projects including residential developments, hotels and shopping centres, balustrades can be manufactured to individual design requirements.
